Do foot orthotics weaken arch muscles? This has been raised in many occasions and on many times. Those who do not like the use of foot orthotics like to claim that they weaken the muscles of the arch. They cite no research to support that claim and there is no research to support the claim. But they like to pretend it is a problem to support their anti-orthotic arguments. There are two research projects that have looked at this have shown it not to be the case, with one study showing an increase in muscles with foot orthotic use and another study showing no change in strength.
