Trim roses to get rid of damaged and dead stems and diseased blooms. When you trim roses, you promote growth. You do not want to stun growth so the best time to trim roses is when they are dormant. Fall until early spring is a good time. Be aware that different types of roses require different strokes of trimming. What may be good for other breeds may not work as well with some breeds. So better be carful in trimming your beautiful blooms. Remember your purpose for trimming is to encourage growth and not bring harm to your rose plants.
